So email us on products you love, hate, have had good or average results with. If there is a product out there that has been hard to work with let us know and if enough people feel the same way the product might find itself listed as one to avoid. Just a way of helping nail techs sort through the ever increasing product range.Creative Nail DesignThere are not many people in the nail industry who have not heard of Creative. Many nail clients of ours in fact love Creative and wouldn't dream of using anything else. If there are any DIE HARD Creative fans out there we would love to hear from you Please let us know how long you have been using the products and why you love them so much. And by all means email us any photos us fab nails that you did using Creative. The Oceasia website is going to include a gallery of nail techs work and details on how to get in touch with the techs. So email us and help us get the gallery up. Now if you have found something better than Creative please by all means forward those details on to us aswell. Creative does have the presentation and experience that make it a full package and a product to reckon with. I look forward to writing more about Creative so get those emails in to me. Also online retailers and wholesalers of Creative are welcome to forward their links and details. Oceasia's pre-buffed tips are tested with Creative acrylicsOceasia does not stock Creative Nail Design products. However it has come to our attention that a number of the nail techs who do buy our nail tips love Creative. I once asked one of the techs who did some testing for us why she loved Creative as much as she did. From what I understand Creative was the first nail application product she ever used. She trained with it and has found nothing to compare to it. She said that in the nail business time is money and the better the product the better the time. The nail tech we have just mentioned usese our Pre-designed tips, colour tips and I believe she even worked with our natural and French White. She works in the Surfers Paradise area and is a real pleasure to meet. I can recommend her to anyone who comes to the Gold Coast for good nail work. If you do go in to see her let her know you read about her on the Oceasia website. She should get a kick out of that. Her name is Jody and you will find her at Nail Power on Orchid Avenue in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. |

Our website is currently undergoing a huge transition. We are changing from a product
based site to an information site. As a result we are overstocked.
So we have drastically reduced the pricing on all of our available stock, while stocks last.
Hopefully there are some nail techs that can take advantage of the reduction in price.
We have lowered the price to well below the distributors price.
International buyers are welcome. |

THE DANGERS OF ACRYLIC NAILSNow as most of us know everything we put both on our bodies and in our bodies has a powerful effect on us. And that means everything. Unless it grows naturally and we eat it right after picking it without any additives or preservatives it goes without saying that the consumable is going to have a detramental effect on our bodies and nail products are no exception. We all have our vices so choose your poisons well. For some of us it is cola, for others ice-cream and still for others wheat (wheat is a man made hybrid and is very impacting on our systems). So each to his or her own.As for myself I cannot wear acrylic- I will and do react. For some with less sensitivity, acrylic will be fine for a while, but at some point the body will probably increase in sensitivity and signs of this will manifest. Just recently there was a report on channel seven news (in Australia) on the hazards of acrylic products. So what does this mean. First of all I have to say take care of yourselves and your nails and always put your health first. There is nothing more beautiful than a healthy individual who walks around as if they were wearing an invisible crown. So while everything does impact on our systems some products are more impacting than others. I can't and won't say don't use acrylic because I believe it is very important that we all make up our own minds but please be wary of the following ingredient: •MMA methyl methacrylate Warning Signs that the salon you are in is using it: • Discounted nails - cheap should spell danger Things to look out for: • A sticker or label which reads "NO MMA" -this is a good sign • Products containing EMA - a safer chemical It never hurts to do some research on the internet before your nail appointment. At least make a list of products that do not contain MMA. Remember most salons won't even know that they are using products containing MMA. So by talking to them about it you could be doing them a favour (even if they may not appreciate it right away- MMA products are cheaper) So what is the problem with MMA?First of all the nail industry admits it is unsafe.MMA is to strong a bonding agent and if the wearer catches their acrylic extensions on something they are liable to have the acrylic nail come off and take the natural nail off with it. In the USA the FDA labled MMA as a poisonous and deleterious substance. The first warning by the FDA was sent out in 1974.(Mmmmmh it is still on the market...) THE WARNING SIGNS TO WATCH OUT FOR AFTER APPLICATIONSO you have taken all the precautions and asked the salon what products they use. They have answered to your satisfaction and the price was in no way cheap; so you go ahead and get your nails done. However after you leave the salon you are not so sure you will go back. If the following symptoms appear perhaps you have been exposed to MMA:•nails started hurting •skin gets sore •skin turns white If any of the above happen please go to a reputable salon and have the nails removed as soon as possible. When in doubt always ask to see the original container. Look out for the ingredient ethyl methacrylate. EMA is safer than MMA. Other ingredients to look out forWhen making a decision regarding whether to use gel or acrylic, consider the following:•acryilc whether it includes EMA or MMA is more impacting on your system and more people will react to it (some after their first application and some after years of acrylic applications) •acrylic nails are removed with acetone (acetone and acetonitrile are considered neurotoxins-a giveaway of a neurotoxin is that you may become slightly dizzy with prolonged exposure) •Other neurotoxins you may encounter having your nails done are toluene and amyl, butyl and ethyl acetate which are used as solvents in nail polish. Well if nothing else the above information should make you an informed consumer. However I strongly urge that you make your own decisions- listen to your inner voice- I don't want to tell anyone what to do but at the same time I feel a little irrisponsible not include information such as in the above article. Be a safe, healthy, and informed consumer, and stay beautiful. |

Video linksWe have added a number of video links to our site as well which focus on nail art. We are always out there looking, so send us details on what you are after and we may be able to find just the right link or video tutorial to help you and others like yourself. Here are two examples of the video links that have been added to the site: |
Video linksWhen watching the video links please be sure to keep your cursor off the viewing area. When using dial up networks please click on the play icon in the centre of the video screen then hit the pause button in the bottom left corner and wait for the video to fully download before watching it. You will know the download has been completed when a thin grey line has moved from the left to the far right of the thin grey bar extending from the circle with the red dot. Otherwise the download speed will be too slow on the first viewing and the image will freeze continously. Use broadband / adsl for optimum viewing. If anyone out there has a video of the nail art they have done showing off their work email us with the details.
